The houses in this group have thirty residents or more. At that scale the interesting question is not how many people live there but how the building is divided. Thirty people spread across two kitchens, several lounges and bathrooms on every floor can feel roomier than twelve people sharing one kitchen. A headcount on its own tells you very little.

Look at where the facilities sit, not only how many there are

Ask how many kitchens, bathrooms, toilets and laundry machines the building has, then ask where each one is. A set of facilities on every floor behaves differently from a single set everyone walks to, even when the totals match. Distance does its own sorting: a shower two floors down gets used less than one along your corridor, which quietly changes how crowded each one becomes. If a floor plan exists, ask for it and trace the route from the room you are considering to the kitchen, the bathroom and the front door.

Somewhere to be alone counts as a facility

Large buildings usually deliver company. What they do not always deliver is somewhere to sit quietly. A house with a lounge for talking and a separate study, work room or terrace lets you pick your mood in the evening, while a house with one big common room asks you to take whatever mood is in it. Ask which rooms exist, whether any of them are kept quiet by rule, and where people go when they need to concentrate.

Ask about hours and booking

Photographs show empty rooms. What matters is whether a space is open when you are home. Some shared rooms close at night, some take reservations, some are given over to events on certain evenings, and laundry rooms have rush hours of their own. Ask which parts of the building fill up in the morning and after work, and whether anything runs on a booking system. A long facility list is only worth as much as the hours you can reach it.

Scale brings its own practical questions as well: how deliveries are handled for that many residents, how the entrance works with so many people coming and going, and how quickly repairs get done when one lounge serves dozens of people.

Scale does not set the price by itself. Read the table as a range, then ask which of the shared facilities you would genuinely use. A building with a gym, a studio and three lounges is only worth paying for if your week includes them. If it does not, compare on the private room, the location and the monthly fees instead.

Three comparisons are worth making. First, the number of kitchens, bathrooms and laundry machines set against the number of residents, and how they are spread through the floors. Second, the layout: how far your room sits from the things you use daily, and which stairs or elevator you would take. Third, whether the building offers somewhere quiet as well as somewhere sociable. Ask about opening hours and booking rules too, because a facility you cannot reach at your hours is not really yours.

If the operator has a floor plan, use it. Trace the walk from the room to the nearest bathroom, to the kitchen and to the entrance, and ask which stairs or elevator people use at eight in the morning. In a building this size the traffic pattern is part of daily life, and it is hard to guess from photographs.

Ask what the busy evenings look like as well: which rooms fill up, whether events take over the main lounge, and where you can go if you would rather sit them out. Check the cleaning schedule for the shared rooms while you are at it, since the more people use a kitchen, the more its upkeep depends on staff rather than goodwill. A large house works well when it offers both a crowd and a corner, and asking where residents go to be alone usually reveals which of the two is in short supply.
